MLM How-To: Sites, Blogs, and Forums--- Your Homes On The Internet Range

What did we ever do before the Internet? There used to be a time when had to do MLM by personal contact--- or at least long distance by phone.

Then the worldwide web came along, and everything changed. Now, you don’t even have to talk to people. You can just spam your way past the rejection and wait for the good recruits to make their way into your downline.

Yeah, right.

When all this smoke in cyberspace clears, the reality will set in that this is still a people business, and the human element can’t be replaced. But the Internet is still a prime tool to make contact, and it’s cost effective if you know how to do it.

Starting your owns website is easy. And it’s almost free. You can get a domain name for less than ten bucks a year, and that includes hosting. Pick out your own www name and you’re on the web in five minutes. You’ve got an Internet address. You’ve made it to first base! Now lets make it to second.

A blog is an Internet term that’s short for “weblog”. Basically it’s just an online diary, and you can post it for free. I connect mine to my domain name (Blue Collar MLM.com). But you can also use your website as a way to connect to your blog by putting a link on it. That’s little redundant, but who cares? Now, you’re ready to build some traffic.

Forums are a great place on the Internet to find like-minded people. Just go to Google and type in “MLM forums”, and see what you get. Reply to some of the posts that interest you, and put your URL in the signature. Just be sure to know what you’re talking about, or you’ll look stupid

There are other online resources to drive traffic to your site or blog--- classified ads, social networking sites, chat rooms, and so on. I like MySpace and Adland Pro. Craig’s List is also a good performer, but they sometimes delete MLM ads. And sometimes, they also limit the number of ads you can post per day, and the cities you can post them in. Traffic Swarm is an online traffic exchange where you can click for credits that drive traffic to your site.

Whatever you do, don’t try to sell from your site. E-commerce is a multibillion-dollar business, but it’s just a fraction of all Internet traffic. The Web was designed for the free exchange of information, and that still accounts for most all Internet traffic--- email, searches, chatting, etc. Hitting people with a sales pitch is a sure way to lose them In the long run. Exchanging information and building relationships gets things done.
