MLM How-To: The Truth Is A Funny Thing (Almost No One Listens To It)

Try this: For the next 24 hours, be totally and completely honest with people, no matter what. Tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Be gentle. Don’t be mean or insult people. Just speak the plain simple truth. Say what you mean, mean what you say. Be direct and honest.

The funny thing is, people won’t hear you. Say something they don’t want to hear, and they’ll pause a second as if to say, “Did you just say what I thought you said? Surely not”. Then they’ll play back in their head what they think you should have said, as if you had said it.

I give the book, “Success In 10 Steps” to people as a gift, all they have to do is ask for it. They don’t know me, they find me on the Internet and I make them the free offer. They download the book and then I follow up with them to see if they got it. I don’t call to sell them anything, just to talk a little bit about MLM and see if I can help them. The author of the book also offers free training to anyone who wants it.

“Why do you give this away?” some of them ask. “What MLM company are you in?” I don’t want to talk about my company, I tell them. “I want to give you the tools you need to be successful, and if you’re ever looking for a company, then I’ll be happy to talk with you about mine.”

Quite often they don’t believe me! They think I couldn’t possibly be giving something this valuable away for free. Surely I have an ulterior motive. “You don’t want to talk about your company, that’s insane! How else do you get people to join you?”

See, almost everyone is anxious to talk about their company, products, pay plan, etc. And nobody cares! They don’t want to look at what you’ve got, they want you to see what they have. So when you don’t have the same agenda, they can’t believe it. So they hear something different than what you just told tem. There’s a 97% fail rate in MLM. So the greatest need is to learn how to do the business. Give people that, no matter what company they’re in, and there will be plenty of people around to join your business. I promise.
