Not all scams are illegal. Huh?

I apologize in advance, because the truth can hurt. But since it’s also good for you, here goes:

No one wants to be a victim of a scam or illegal scheme.

If you don’t know any better, you’ll put the words “illegal” and “scam” together. There are illegal scams, but not all scams are illegal.

Have I lost my mind? No. I’ll explain.

First, let’s agree on what a scam is. How about “improper conduct with the intention to cheat”? OK, that sounds like a good definition. But is that “illegal”?

In multilevel marketing, 97% of us who try to make money fail. If we’re lead to believe that we’ll DEFINITELY make lots of money, that’s the “scam”. But it’s not necessarily ILLEGAL. A scam’s not illegal--- unless it breaks the law.

So the “get rich quick” lie in itself is not the problem; that’s the American Dream. The problem happens when the Dream breaks the law.

MLM companies know that. Some of them go to a lot of trouble to make an “opportunity” LEGAL. But if it’s designed for most of us to fail, that is a scam.

Maybe the Dream you’re working on is the real deal. But it’s probably not. Con artists are more than qualified to make a scam legal. Legal and legitimate are two different things.

Let’s summarize:

1. Most MLM companies are scams.
2. Some scams are LEGAL.
3. SOME MLM companies are NOT scams.

Are you sure you’re in a LEGAL company that’s NOT A SCAM? Better read this just to be sure.
